"Interaction in Context in Information Research: Shifting the
Paradigm"
Prof. Micheline Beaulieu is professor in Information Science at
Department of Information Studies, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic
Planning and Chair of ICOSS (Informatics Collaboratory for the
Social Sciences) at the University of Sheffield. Her research
interest include models of information seeking behaviour, interface
design and human-computer interaction for information retrieval,
advanced methods for information retrieval and evaluation
methodologies, and the design of evaluative experiments for
interactive searching.

"Social and Personal: Communities and Collaboration in Adaptive Web
Search"
Prof. Barry Smyth holds the Digital Chair of Computer Science in University College Dublin and is currently head of Computer Science. He is an ECCAI Fellow and also a co-founder, director, and Chief Technical Officer of ChangingWorlds Ltd. His research covers a broad set of topics within Artificial Intelligence including Case-Based Reasoning, Machine Learning, User Modeling and Planning with particular focus on so-called Personalization techniques, which looks at ways of combining ideas from these areas to develop information systems that automatically learn about, and adapt to, the needs of individual users.
