Information analysis

The concept "information analysis" is used in different senses. The INSPEC-thesaurus uses the concept as synonymous with subject analysis, i.e., an analysis of documents for classification or indexing.

Galliers (1987) uses the concept related to "analysis of information needs". There seems thus not to be a need for the term "information analysis".

"Data-analysis" is often understood as statistical analysis of numerical data, cf., Flynn, 1987, chapter 3, pp. 55-81. Analyses of "data needs" is also used (cf., Rockart, 1979).
