Secondary information system

One among other meanings of the term "secondary information system" is given in UNISIST model of information dissemination. According to this model is the role of secondary information systems to  register, describe and organize as well the primary literature as the other categories (including the secondary literature itself). Secondary information systems provide secondary information services and secondary literatures.

Among secondary information systems are libraries and bibliographic on-line databases. Secondary information systems are the core focus of the library, documentation, and information science profession. Bibliography is one discipline that studies this area.
