Statistics (Methods of LIS)

Statistical methods are widely used in Library and Information Science (LIS). Descriptive statistics are used both in research and management (e.g. measurements of book circulation).

Statistical methods such as analysis of variance (ANOVA), t-tests, multiple regressions are also widely employed in research within LIS.

Some fields make greater use of statistics than other fields. In bibliometrics, for example, the use of statistical methods are dominating. (The term 'statistical bibliography' is an older term for what is today termed bibliometrics).
