TARGET
An algorithm for information retrieval (IR) introduced by the database host Dialog in December 1993. The algorithm is not published, but according to the manual it is based on statistical analyses of the frequency and proximity of the search terms as well in the single records as in the whole database. The retrieved document representations are
weighted and output is ranked according to decreasing weight.
