Mission

In accordance with RSLIS Act no. 17 of 14 January 1998, RSLIS has to provide further and higher education and run research within Library and Information Science up to the highest educational level, and safeguard the freedom of research and contribute to expanding knowledge of work methods and results within its subject field.

RSLIS provides education for library assistants, Bachelor Degree graduates, librarians, Master Degree candidates and PhD candidates on a research basis, runs post-school and higher education and research at the highest international level (cf. the Act).

RSLIS is a higher education and research institution in the field of library and information science, that

• secures the basis for the high level and development of the Danish libraries,

• creates and communicates new knowledge on research and development results and work methods within library and information science, nationally and internationally,

• makes an important contribution to satisfying society’s requirements on the development of special competences within organisation, division, management and knowledge retrieval, and the development and communication of culture and social information.
