The first run of the International Master programme began in September 2005. 18 international students were enrolled into the programme and 8 Danish students had chosen to participate in the “Information Retrieval Theory” module. On these pages, Beatriz, Chariste, Danny and Nikolaj present their personal experience with being a student in the International Masters’ course.
Beatriz is from Venezuela and has a bachelor degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the US. She has been working in a variety of jobs before moving to Copenhagen with her husband, where she decided on studying library and information management.
Chariste is from Greece and her educational background is in librarianship and systems of information. She came to Copenhagen to study LIS at Master's level.
Danny is from the US. He is a Bachelor of Arts and chose to study at the Royal School of Library and Information Science because it was a field that he did not know much about, and he felt it would increase his marketability after graduation.
Sanjay is from India. He holds a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Information Science from India. His keen interest in librarianship and documentation has motivated him to further get a Master's degree in Library & Information Science from the Royal School of Library and Information Science.
Nikolaj is one of the Danish students at the International Master's Programme. He thinks it is important to get an idea of how the culture in other countries is like and this programme is just a way of getting that knowledge.
