Faglig profil

Pia Borlunds primære forskningsinteresse er interaktiv informationsgenfinding, i særdeleshed evaluering af interaktive informationssøgesystemer set i et brugerperspektiv. Hvilket knytter an til hendes forskningsinteresse vedr. bruger- og informationssøgeadfærd, dvs. undersøgelser og studier af hvordan brugerne anvender informationssøgesystemerne og den information de finder. En forskningsinteresse som lægger op til hendes interesse og ekspertise indenfor tilgange og metoder til evaluering af informationssøgesystemer og informationssøgeadfærd, og som understreger hendes fokus på eksperimentel design og testdesign. I forbindelse med brugeres anvendelse af informationssøgesystemer er Pia Borlund endvidere optaget af relevansbegrebet som subjektivt begreb, dvs. hvordan brugeren vurderer funden information relevant, og hvordan relevans som subjektivt begreb, kan kvantificeres og gøres sammenligneligt. I relation til relevansbegrebet er hun også optaget af informationsbehovets natur.

The research programme time frames a series of activities undertaken by Katriina Byström and Pia Borlund. The programme places information related activities in real and simulated work tasks (with special emphasis on task complexity), as well as information systems evaluation at its core, hereby bridging the research areas of information seeking and retrieval.

Administrative funktioner

Pia Borlund er Forksningschef for Danmarks Biblioteksskole, leder af forskningssøjlen og overordnet ansvarlig for Biblioteksskolens tre forskningsprogrammer. Hun er i den egenskab formand for Biblioteksskolens Forskningsudvalg og medlem af Koordinationsudvalget. Hun er endvidere overordnet ansvarlig for biblioteksområdet ved Biblioteksskolen
Pia Borlund repræsenterer Biblioteksskolen i EU-styregruppen for etablering af samfundvidenskabeligt-humanistisk forskningsnetværk, samt som Research Dean i iSchool Caucus-netværket.
