Sixth International Conference on the Inclusive Museum

How do cultural institutions address gender mainstreaming?

Gender mainstreaming emerged as a new global equality strategy in 1995 and was carried at the Fourth UN World Conference in the Beijing Platform of Action. At the EU level the notion was endorse in the late 1990s and implemented in the Amsterdam Treaty (1997).  In 2013, the question on how the gender dimension is defined and negotiated in a range of cultural institutions - and in relation to key cultural issues -  is very relevant.

Come and hear more about the subject at the 6th International Conference on the Inclusive Museum in Copenhagen in April.

KVINFO and the International Institute for the Inclusive Museum invites  Danish cultural institutions to a one day seminar on Tuesday, April 23, where we can scope, assess and understand the extent to which cultural institutions are addressing gender mainstreaming and perhaps come up with a set of strategic directions to be presented at the end of the conference on Wednesday, April 24.
The first session in the morning is co-chaired by Hans Martin-Hinz, President the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and has Elisabeth Silkes,  Executive Director of the International Coalition for Sites of Conscience (NY) and  Curator Jasleen  Dhamija ( New Delhi) as international guests.
